Abstract

The aging population in the European Union (EU) poses significant challenges to economic growth and stability. This paper examines the relationship between aging populations and GDP growth within the EU, focusing on how demographic changes impact economic productivity, labor markets, and public finances. Through a review of recent literature and empirical data, the study identifies both the direct and indirect effects of aging on economic performance. The findings highlight the need for strategic policy interventions to mitigate the adverse impacts of an aging demographic on the EU’s economic future. The paper concludes by suggesting areas for future research and policy adjustments to address these demographic challenges effectively.
